Choose a subject and mode

Margo Page

Last Update 8 days ago

On the home page, we group study modes by subject. Pick the subject and mode that best fit your question to start a focused chat. For example, choose Math, then Algebra for algebra questions, or Science, then Biology for biology questions.
Find a mode
You can browse the subject groups on the home page, or open the subject search and type a subject or keyword. Search checks mode names, descriptions, and subject names. If no matches appear, try a broader term or clear the search to see all modes again.
Choose General when your question is broad or doesn't fit one of the listed modes. For a question that fits a particular class, a more specific mode helps keep the conversation focused.
Start a different topic
Each chat is a separate conversation. To start another one, return to the home page and choose a mode again. Your existing chats are available from your profile under My Chats.
Once you choose a mode, ask your question in the chat. You can keep the conversation focused by choosing a mode that matches the subject, or pick General when you're not sure which one fits.
